2006 Western New York Bioscience Awards

The High Tech Business Council’s Bio Cluster will recognize outstanding achievements in the regional bioscience industry at the 2006 Western New York Bioscience Summit.  The Bio Cluster will honor and promote the efforts of local and regional companies, organizations and individuals in this First Western New York Bioscience Award. 

 

The awards will recognize biotech companies, researchers and companies that support the biotech industry and have demonstrated scientific innovation, company growth and corporate citizenship. 

 

Awards and Criteria

Outstanding Achievement by a Bioscience Company

       Demonstrate contribution to the growth of the biotech industry in Western New York. 

       Commitment to the Western New York region and/or business community

 

Innovation to Commercialization Award

       The winner will be an innovator, researcher or entrepreneur who has achieved distinction by moving an idea from the research phase towards commercialization to a significant extent. 

       Brief history of the collaboration among the researcher and his or her collaborative partners.

       Description of obstacles overcome by the partners.

       Research must be completed in Western New York.

 

2006 Best Poster Award

       Best poster presentation will be selected by a committee of judges

       All poster presentations selected to present at the Summit will be automatically nominated for the Best Poster Award.

 

2006 Western New York Bioscience Summit Best Exhibit Award

       Conference attendees will vote on their favorite exhibits at the conference. 

 

Nomination Guidelines

Nominations are open to High Tech Business Council members and non-members.  You may nominate another company or individual that you feel excels in the areas described or submit an application for your own company or yourself.  All nominations must be made by completing the form below and must include:  contact information, statement of nomination, which addresses how the nominee meets the award criteria, major achievements, impact of those achievements on the biotechnology industry, resume/curriculum vitae for each nominee. 

 

Nominations for the 2006 Western New York Bioscience Outstanding Achievement by a Bioscience Company and Innovation to Commercialization Awards must be received no later than 4:00pm on September 10, 2006 to be considered.  All exhibiting companies will automatically be entered to win the Best Exhibit Award.  Applications can be sent via e-mail, fax or regular mail. 

 

       Awards are open to companies and individuals in the biotechnology industry in the Western New York region. 

       The committee of judges will resolve questions concerning eligibility. 

       Decisions made by the committee of judges is final and may not be appealed.

       All nominations are confidential and become property of the BioCluster of the High Tech Business Council. 

       The committee of judges is under no obligation to make an award in any category where, in its opinion, the quality of nominations does not warrant it.

       HTBC staff or planning committee cannot assist in the preparation of a nomination beyond general advice concerning the regulations and proper forms to use.  Nor will the staff or committee members offer opinions as to a nomination’s chances of success.
